Deborah Morse Scala
Deborah Morse Scala is a retired early childhood educator. During her career, she has been the recipient of several in-district mini grants, an educational science grant from Pfizer Corporation and a Geraldine R Dodge Teacher Fellowship Grant.
Several of her original ideas have been published in Mailbox magazine. She has presented workshops to fellow teachers for her school district and for NJAKE.
Her Work and Projects
Deborah has been a member of NJEA & NEA. She has held executive office in both NJAKE (New Jersey Association of Kindergarten Educators) and Alpha Delta Kappa sorority for women educators.
Ms. Scala has taught K-5, however, she says her greatest joy came from teaching kindergarten for the Parsippany-Troy Hills School District. Foxglove Music Press publishes the book Kid Quotes that shares her experiences and will tickle your funny bone.
She collaborated with musician Cheryl Terhune Cronk to create original songs with an activity book for early childhood teachers to use in their classroom. They focus on Classroom Management and Character Education, and various other subject material such as environment, social skills, personal care and science.
Ever the educator, Ms. Scala volunteers for The Friends of the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge where she collaborates to create fun hands-on activities for the Discovery Den. She is a Tour Leader there and has recently illustrated an A-Z GSNWR Coloring Book.
Deborah lives in a small victorian hamlet in northeastern New Jersey with her husband, Joseph. Her two grown twin daughters continue to amaze her.
